Apartment Project: Sexy Bedroom
The one room that repeatedly gets neglected from my decorating emphasis is our bedroom. I know, that’s sad right? In our first apartment we just threw it together without much thought. We were only there for six months and we were completely preoccupied creating a home – specifically stocking up the kitchen. Before we knew it we were moving [which was a really positive thing since our first place was the epitome of first crappy apartment. Ah the memories...we actually miss it from time to time]. We lived in the house that we rented for a year and the bedroom still didn’t get any TLC. The basics were all there: bed, dresser, two night tables but that was it. Right before we moved we found a killer bench for the foot of the bed and painted it white. That’s about all we did to make that room look nice.
And do you know what? That’s all that we have. Seven months later [in our newest place] the room still looks like we just moved in. There’s nothing on the walls. It’s completely drab and not in a good way. We both agree that our bedroom needs an overhaul. We won’t even publicize the condition right now because it’s that bad.
Our comforter + curtains are currently navy and our bedside tables are red. Since we both favor the more minimalistic look we fortunately won’t need to furnish it too much. Guess what color palette we picked? Yep, you guessed it: black + white + charcoal. Now that we have things like colors [or lack of] selected we need to start building making [smart] purchases towards getting this room sexy.
To make sure that the room still stays “us” we will certainly add our own personality to it. Check out my in progress DIY for above our bed:
Yes, it spells LOVENASIUM. That’s how we roll!
What are some of the projects you are working on?

[...] There you have it – the 411 on my styled bedside table. I’m pretty limited to styling it since the base of what I’m working with – the actual table – is not what I want. Don’t get me wrong – I love Ikea – but I want to kick our bedroom up to the next level [like I mentioned in my Apartment Project]. [...]
