Design Residency: Colorful Kitch
I don’t know about you but I sure do love a retro kitchen. In my opinion, the kitch is the ONE room in the house where you can get away with having a million different colors floating around and that’s acceptable/stylish. There’s something that draws me to kitchen accessories and my kitchen currently has a variety of colors flowing throughout it. Color inspires me when I’m cooking – does that happen to you? Plus, don’t forget to check out Kate’s 1920′s dapper room.
The inspiration: This digitally printed mid-century inspired print. I can just picture it as curtains, an apron or framed!
The translation: Why not mix prints, patterns, and colors? Think polka dots, colanders, and bright colors! You can turn any boring kitchen into a happy cooking space with these fun accessories. Plus, what’s not to love about that SMEG fridge?

Great list of things, I love a colorful kitchen… this is why I have fiestaware in every single color!
OOOO I love me some fiestaware Emily! My aunt/uncle have a full set and I always drool when they bust it out.
You know I thought about getting a full set all in the same color but I couldn’t commit to just one. So I decided that I would have a place setting in each color and then have all my other pieces in different colors also.
So I might set the table with 2 or 3 different colors and then have a black salt and pepper shaker with a cobalt blue serving piece, etc. I don’t know that everyone would like that but I do!
Emily – a colorful home is great and setting the table the way that makes YOU happy is key! Believe me, sometimes I think I’M crazy for the arrangements I make!
Those Smeg refridgerators are soooo cute! They’re so expensive though gahhh…
Those anthropologie berry containers are also super cute. I’m kinda hoping Target will come out with a cheaper version sometime. *fingers crossed*
Sara – I know I want one of those fridges too! When I saw the price my heart sank a bit but a girl can dream right?! P.S. Double Fingers crossed that Target carries them!
I love your inspiration print! Brightly colored kitchens are so much fun!
I agree Alyssa, a brightly colored kitchen will help me cook more!
Retro kitchens are amazing! I adore the print and the tea towels from UO. Such cool finds. What a great series :)
Thanks Angel! I’m thrilled that you like the series and the featured items. I really enjoyed this one!
