Socialize Your Blog: Meet Pinterest
Part of my happiness project this month has been to work on my social media outlets. Instead of just doing a bunch of work behind the scenes I decided to make the past few posts with an outward stance – showing you how I try to socialize bedsidesign. Last week we talked all about instagram, and the week before we dished on twitter. Today is no different! Ah pinterest. You are becoming one of my favorite pastimes. Whenever I’m looking for an inspirational boost, a cute outfit, a spiffy hairdo, or some serious interior styling I hop on to this beautiful website [or app...depending on if I feel like finding a laptop or walking to the computer]. I still can’t believe I planned our wedding without pinterest…craziness. Pinterest is a power-house for bloggers. Not only does it make sharing inspiration super easy but you can also keep things organized.
I use pinterest a bunch of different ways. Today I’m going to talk about my top 3 ways that are effective to my personal blog growth.
1. Create a board for your blog. Pin your highlight/fave images from your posts + behind the scenes stuff (like instagram pics) so that your pinterest has a presence of who you are and what your blog features. Rearrange your board so that this is numero uno because let’s face it, your cute&cuddly animal board is great but that shouldn’t be the first thing that your followers see…unless you are a animal blogger, which if that’s the case keep that sucker front and center!
2. Create a board for your collaborations. What’s that? You collaborate with other bloggers? Create a pin-worthy board so that your readers can follow along with your series! You can see what I mean by checking out the IN LOVE board with artsocial, Design Residency with Striped Cat Studio, Pretty Paper with a new journey, Type Takeover with Sugar and Type, yeah you get the point.
3. Pin your heart out. Pin what you actually like – don’t just pin something because it’s there. I know it sounds obvious but stay true to who you are, the followers will come.
Do you use pinterest? Make sure to follow along with bedsidesign!
P.S. This is a Happiness linkup. Be inspired by the other amazing bloggers and please check their blogs out & join the fun! You can join the conversation on twitter by using the hash-tag #behappylinkup

I think there should be a Pinterest addiction group… I may or may not need to join one… I find it that awesome.
If there was I would need to be part of it!
I know I SHOULD make a board for my blog, but I feel so awkward. Just something I need to get over, I guess.
Oh come on girl – with all your amazing yoga stuff you need to!
What did we do with ourselves before Pinterest came along? Really though, I remember trying to bookmark things…it was not pretty nor was it very efficient!
Oh my gosh – someone asked me how I planned my wedding the other day and I said, “I cut out pictures from magazines and created an inspiration board” –the original pinner ;)
Hi Christie. I’m attending the bloggers meetup on Thursday so I’m perusing the various sites.
I started using Pinterest several months ago. Not sure if I understand it. Though I did what you said. I created a board for my blog.
I look forward to meeting you and the rest of the group to discuss blogging.
Hey Steve – thanks for stopping by! Great to hear of another CNY blogger and I’m looking forward to the meet-up. Pinterest is certainly an interesting game – I think it really depends on the content you are trying to share, and the content you are interested in. I’m thinking the conversation should be interesting!
